Description

Early-Victorian Cast Iron Grate

An absolutely outstanding early-Victorian cast iron insert made by Carron and Co. in Stirlingshire, thought to be the best manufacturers of fireplaces in Victorian Britain.   Organic tendrils entwine around the arch and terminate in a pair of Arum lilies. An extremely rare fireplace.  In excellent condition, from a large house in London. Circa 1846
