Arts and Crafts Thomas Jeckyll Cast Iron Insert
A unique Arts & Crafts cast iron fire insert designed by Thomas Jeckyll, adapted to carry tiles. The design detail is exquisite encompassing geometric circular patterns of flowers, butterflies and a circle of four bees. An all together outstanding example of his work. In excellent condition, complete with new back and grate. Circa 1873.
This fire insert was originally design to be used with 12″ tile panels and has been cleverly adapted to be used with a set of 10 x 6″ tiles.
Shown with Original Aesthetic Movement tiles; set of ten 6″ x 6″ tiles, cream background with brown detail depicting North, East, West, South on the center two and Water, Air, Earth and Fire on the remaining eight. In excellent condition. Available @ £1000 with this fireplace.
